Our Journey with Nature

Under da Tree was born from the union of two Brazilian souls who found home in Hawai‘i and chose to build a life deeply connected to nature.

Japa is a physicist, Capoeira Master, Reiki Master, surfer, and lifelong martial artist. His journey began with Judo and continued through Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, shaping his connection to discipline, movement, energy, and the body.

Nay is an educator, yoga teacher, holistic therapist, and ritual guide, with a deep connection to herbs, ancestral practices, astrology, and the cycles of the Moon. Her work brings together nature, intuition, energy, and ritual as part of everyday life.

Together, we created Under da Tree as an extension of the way we actually live.

At the heart of everything we do is one simple philosophy: Define Normal.

For us, “normal” means questioning what became automatic and consciously choosing what makes sense for our lives. It means returning to simpler rhythms, real food, movement, plants, rituals, and a deeper relationship with nature.

From our home in Hawai‘i, we create our own natural products by hand, prepare the recipes and rituals we share, and offer holistic experiences rooted in the same practices that are part of our everyday life.

Through our Instagram, @underdatree.hawaii, we open a window into this lifestyle, sharing what we eat, make, practice, question, and learn along the way with a community that continues to grow far beyond Hawai‘i.

Under da Tree is not about living perfectly or following an 8-or-80 lifestyle. It is about awareness, autonomy, balance, and making more conscious choices, one ritual at a time.

Nature as medicine. Ritual as lifestyle.

Define Normal. 🌿

Define Normal essence.
